Twinkling Lights Tour: Free Holiday Light Displays Near You
Dress up in your warmest clothes, grab your peeps, hop in the car, and crank up the holiday tunes! Take a magical drive-through tour of your neighborhood’s most impressive light displays or walk a elaborately decorated park or outdoor mall. You can look on-line or check your local neighborhood paper for free Christmas light displays near you!
If you want to walk instead of drive, there are probably plenty of options to see light displays in your own neighborhood. We took our granddaughters on a wagon ride to see them all. From twinkling houses to life-sized reindeer and nativity scenes, there’s always something new and dazzling to discover!
DIY Holiday Ornaments: Craft Keepsakes for Less
Why not have a holiday ornament making night with your family or friends? You can forage items to use from outdoor. Grab some pinecones, acorns, twigs and use glitter, ribbon or twine and let your imagination run wild!
This great idea comes from my good friend Jennifer from Cottage on Bunker Hill. She made the cutest Rustic Christmas Ornaments with Wood Slices and Pinecones.
Have you seen my post on How to Make Easy Vintage Ornaments? If you have a printer at home these are the perfect ornament to make. Instead of using prefabbed wooden ornaments, you can cut out pieces of cardboard, and create your own vintage inspired ornament!
Your DIY holiday ornaments can be used on your tree or you hang them on your Christmas gifts. Inexpensive and purposeful!
Cozy Up with a DIY Hot Cocoa Bar: A Budget-Friendly Treat
This is one of the easiest projects you can create for your family and friends to enjoy! What’s cozier than a warm mug of hot chocolate or hot cocoa? Did you know there was a difference between the two?

City, county or state parks are great options. However, some state parks charge a daily fee. You can use online resources, checking websites like AllTrails, Hiking Project, and Trails.com can help you find free hiking trails in your area.
This is a frugal make memories and enjoy nature in all it’s beauty! Take a thermos of hot chocolate or coffee with you, too!

Love this post. We were just planning Christmas week activities. Mass, worship, Holiday Lights, skating, and music this year. My grand baby is too young to make ornaments this year, but see many in future years! Making it about the reason for season with family, friends and people.
