Hello! Today, I’m participating in a Spring Decor Hop hosted by Pasha from Pasha Is Home. It’s going to be a fun day and I am joining thirteen other bloggers who are excited to show you all their spring decor. I will be showing you a few easy ways to add cheerful spring decor to any room.
If you are joining me from my friend Aliya from Open Doors Open Hearts, a big welcome to you! I am so glad you stopped by! Aliya did a great job sharing how to make a beautiful floral arrangment!
If you’re new here my name is Kim. I love simple home decor, DIY, painting furniture, family time and I make blankets for a cause.

Last year, I showed you How To Create A She Shed In A Room. I spend a lot of time in my she room. I blog there, read there, and sometimes even watch a little TV when sports is monopolizing the main living area. Don’t get me wrong, I like sports, but sometimes this girl needs to watch some Hallmark…or Dateline!
I wanted to give my room a few spring touches so I chose some simple, cheerful additions to the room. You can use the tips I am about to give you in any room in your home.

Add Flowers – Real or Faux
Speaking of cheerful spring decor, flowers are tops on my list. I love adding flowers to any room in my home. Sometimes I add real and sometimes I add faux. In my opinion, I don’t think either choice is right or wrong. Adding either can make a big difference in your space.
A cheerful difference!
You will see that I added real and faux for some spring decor in my she room.
Tulips are the perfect flowers to buy in the spring. I have faux tulips which I showed you last week in My Simple Spring Bedroom Refresh, but I fell in love with this real multi-colored bunch at my local grocery store and I just had to have them.
They definitely look cheerful to me!

On a side note, I learned a little tulip trick from my friend Ann from Dabbling and Decorating. She once shared that putting a penny in the water with your tulips will make them last longer. I also read that the copper is a fungicide, so it naturally kills off the bacteria and fungi that are trying to camp out in your flowers’ vase.
Let me tell you, it really does work!
Great tip, right!?

Next up I also added some faux peonies I purchased last year. You don’t always have to use a vase, basket or urn for your flowers. I laid these around my lamp and added the sweetest little bunny.
Nothing says spring like flowers and a bunny!
Oh, and how about that butterfly lamp shade? My sweet gbaby loves it!
If you are wondering about my pink dresser, you can see how I painted it in my post How To Best Paint Furniture With Milk Paint. It wasn’t created for this spring post but it sures does look like spring!

Cozy Throws and Pillows
I don’t care if it is winter, spring, summer or fall, I always have to have a few throws close by. I am a firm believer that a pretty throw and cozy pillow are a necessity for relaxing.
Please tell me I’m not the only one!
There are plenty of light weight throws out there this spring to replace your heavy winter throws.
Changing out your throw pillows or the pillow covers is an inexpensive way to change the look of your space, especially for each season.
Knick Knacks, Tchotchkes and Pretties
My mother always used the term tchotchkes when decorating. Honestly, I thought it was “her term”.
You know, one of those words we coin and make our own?
Anyway, I didn’t realize it was an actual word until I was in my early twenties. If you don’t know what it means, it’s an inexpensive showy trinket in Yiddish. It is pronounced CHOTCH-ke.
You have to admit it’s fun to say!
Some of you may call them knick knacks, decor items, but I like to refer to them as my pretties. Whatever your chosen term, I think they add the finishing touch.

For my spring additions in my she room, I used the prettiest floral tea cup. Our office is right outside my she room and we have a coffee/tea/water station in there. So, I always have a cup in my room. Now if I am being honest, I don’t always have a fancy tea cup, however, my cheerful spring mood just seemed to require one.
The wooden tray is a constant staple in my she room. It’s such a versitale piece and I’ve linked it below in pictures for you!

I sure you hope you enjoyed my cheerful spring decor. We all have the ability to shop our home and find some items that will work to make a cheerful space. They don’t have to be fancy, just some decor pieces that make your space feel cheerful and make you smile.
Please make sure you go and visit my friend Jennifer from Tatertots and Jello. She has the prettiest home! Jennifer is sharing her beautiful spring dining room tablescape. You won’t want to miss it!
