Good morning from the Mitten!
Today I am participating in the Exterior Door Challenge with some of my talented blogging friends.
I am sharing five easy ways to makeover your front door.
Simple, expensive ways.
Who doesn’t love a beautiful front door and porch?
Most homes have a front door and a back.
My house?
I happen to have two doors and they can both be seen from the front of the house. One on the front and one the side front porch. Since they can both be scene from the front, I like to make sure they coordinate.
Double the fun, right?

If you were here for my Spring Home Tour, then you saw my large hot pink floral wreath on my side door. Since then, I have made some changes and moved a few things around.
Pink, yellow and a side of black and white buffalo check is my theme.
Here are my five easy tips for making over your front door.
1) Every front door deserves a wreath or some sort of decor that is pretty and makes your family and friends feel welcome.
Since I was already using my hot pink floral wreath, I needed to add a coordinating one to my side door.
If you’re like me you have a treasure of storage items. I headed to the storage area and went through all my wreaths. I found this light pink floral wreath with lemons, that we used at my daughter-in-law’s baby shower. Using this was a great base for what I had in mind.

I headed to Joanne’s and picked up some hot pink florals. I used a coupon and it only cost me a fraction of what it should have. Remember, I am always looking for budget friendly ways to make a pretty home. Buying on sale is always the best option.
I added the hot pink florals to my existing wreath.

2) This next tip is an easy one and makes a big change. I added a pretty ribbon to my existing wreath.
Doing this can totally change the look of your wreath. It can dress it up and give your old wreath a totally new look, without buying a new one.

I used this black and white buffalo check ribbon on both of my wreaths. It was the perfect compliment to the item I added next.
3) Who doesn’t love a pretty door mat? There are so many places that carry cute ones, these days. You can even get them at the dollar store.
I picked up a large black and white buffalo check for my front door and a smaller mat for the side door. The ribbon worked great to pull it all together.

4) Add some greenery. Currently in the Mitten, the flower selection is little to none. You can find some pansies and petunias. I opted for some pretty ferns and petunias.
They added just the right touch!

5) How about adding a little statue or sign? I keep bunny statues in my yard in spring, summer and fall. I found this big bunny and just had to have it!
Isn’t he so cute?

Like I said, it is still pretty chilly here in the Mitten. In about six more weeks, I’ll be able to add more flowers.
And you know what?
Those pots will hold flowers which will definitely be variations of pink, I promise!
Hot pink!
Light pink….and maybe some more splashes of yellow!
I’ll make sure to share when everything is fully bloomed.
I hope I have shown inspired you to create a pretty door I hope your front door makes you happy and it puts a smile on the faces of all who enter.
Well, that’s it from my Cottage in the Mitten. Now make sure you stop by and see my friends. You definitely won’t want to miss it!
