What is a Boxwood Wreath?
For those of you that don’t know what a boxwood wreath is, I thought I would share that first.
A boxwood wreath is a decorative wreath made from the leaves of the boxwood shrub (Buxus sempervirens). Boxwood is an evergreen shrub known for its small, glossy leaves, and it’s dense appearance. These leaves retain their color all year long.
The dense foliage and timeless appeal of boxwood make it a popular choice for crafting wreaths that can be used for different projects throughout the whole year.

Styling Your Boxwood for Home Decor
A few years back, I bought a beautiful faux boxwood wreath. It’s a large wreath and is very dense, which I love. For the purpose of this challenge, instead of making a boxwood wreath from scratch, I chose to update my faux one.
This is a very easy update and below are the supplies you will need.
- Boxwood wreath
- Small cream colored flowers.
- Cream colored ribbon
- Floral wire
- Wire snips

Step 1
Serving as a blank canvas, I wanted to change the look of the wreath, but not do anything that would alter it permanently. Afterall, the boxwood wreath is beautiful all on it’s own and preserving that option was important to me.
So what could I do to change it?
I chose some small sized faux mum flowers that had longer stems. Using my wire snips, I carefully cut each flower from the bunch, making sure to cut the stem, as long as I could.
The long stems allowed me to push them into the wreath and hot glue was not required, to make them stay in place.

Step 2
Once all the flowers were detached, the second step was fun and easy. I gently pushed the long-stemmed mums into the dense boxwood wreath, making sure to evenly space them apart. More importantly, you may need to move some of foilage to make sure they are wedged in good.

Step 3
The final step was to add a ribbon. Choosing an understated ribbon in a neutral hue such as ivory, beige, or pale gray effortlessly complements the lush greenery of the boxwood. I think the neutral ribbon adds a soft touch of sophistication and allows the foilage to take center stage!
This is now a versatile boxwood wreath that can be used indoor and outdoor use.
