Hey friends! Welcome back to another week of Mitten Moments! Whether you’re looking for a touch of inspiration or simply a moment to unwind, there’s something here for everyone. Settle in, grab a cup of something warm (or refreshing, depending on your mood), and let’s get started!
My Personal Moments
- The tree marking our subdivision’s entrance is already showing signs of fall. I noticed this while running errands the other day. This tree is absolutely gorgeous when it fully turns, but I have to admit, I was a bit shocked and not sure I’m ready for it yet! Do you have trees turning where you live?

- I’m excited about a new series coming to FOX, in September. Murder in a Small Town is based on the “Karl Alberg” books by L.R. Wright. It’s a Canadian mystery-drama series and Fox acquired the U. S. rights. The series follows the character Detective Karl Alberg, who moves to a quiet coastal town after feeling battered as a big city cop. With his partner Edwina Yen, they deal with a surprising string of murders in a usually quiet Sunshine Coast community. Murder, mystery…I’m here for it!

My Favorite Weekly Find
I’ve found the perfect item to add to your home decor collection. This vase is a sleek, cylindrical piece crafted from ceramic and designed by Studio McGee for Target’s Threshold line. Its standout feature is the reactive glaze, which gives each vase a unique color variation. It’s designed as a tabletop accent and can be used to hold flowers or simply as a decorative piece. The vase is watertight, making it suitable for fresh or artificial arrangements.

Big Al and I recently hit the roadside stand and bought some blueberries, as well as some other goodies that we don’t have in our own garden. Fresh blueberries calls for my Blueberry Buckle recipe. This week, I shared how easy it is to make. If you missed it, there’s plenty of blueberry season left.

As a blogger, I’ve been planning my calendar and gearing up for fall. However, I’m not ready to give up on summer yet! When you live in the Mitten you have to take the warm sunny weather, as long as you can! Making the most of these final summer days, I shared my post, August Adventures: Summer’s Not Over! It’s full of great fun and adventures to share with your family and friends.

A Few of My Favorite Moments
We have been blessed with an abundance of tomatoes from our family garden! That’s why the next recipe caught my eye. Leslie from Feet Under My Table shared her Tomato Jam – A Great Condiment recipe. A great option for the overflow of tomatoes in your garden!

Tammy from White Lilac Farmhouse shared Upcycle and Craft with Twine: DIY Home Decor Ideas. Twine is a fun medium to work with and I just love her fall napkin rings!

I’m a year-round salad enthusiast! If you’re a fellow salad lover, you’ll definitely want to try this recipe. Here is another great recipe from my friend Jen at Midwest Life & Style. Her Autumn Apple and Pecan Salad is perfect for late summer and for fall!

What a great read today…yes! It seems signs of autumn are happening sooner this year. I guess I should have anticipated it since spring came much earlier. Thank you for sharing my tomato recipe. With the abundance of tomato overflow from my garden, another batch was made this weekend. A trip to Michigan is on my bucket list and when I mentioned that to my husband…he reminded me to include a visit with you. Happy Sunday!
C’mon up! Would love your feet under my table!
Wow, happy 💯 post! Always beautiful. Loaded with inspiration and tips for joy in each post.
Cannot believe it’s late August already. Get in those trips for summer fun.
Yes, a great milestone for me! Thanks for all your support, Tina! ❤️
Congratulations!!! 100 Mitten moments is a great accomplishment!
I love Fall and I am looking forward to it.
Have a wonderful week Kim.
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! I’m starting to look forward to fall, too!
Thanks so much, Kim for sharing my fall salad. I hope you enjoy it and have the best week!
You too, Jen!
Congratulations on your 100th Mitten Moment! Wow! Good for you! I cannot believe your trees are starting to turn. We’ve been spending time at our mountain cabin and I do note a slight shift in the temperature but it’s still been warmer than usual here. I almost want to stay here until November but heading back to Phoenix will probably happen after Labor Day. The summers take their toll on our property and it takes a good month to get it looking decent again. Love the tomato jam recipe. I can over 80 lbs of tomatoes in late August but have never tried tomato jam….maybe this year? Thanks for sharing all of your good energy! Love it!
Your mountain cabin sounds just lovely! My friend who lived near Phoenix always came back to the Mitten in the summer months. I know it is hot! I hope you try the tomato jam recipe! I’m so grateful you stopped by and for your kind words! Have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much for sharing my handmade journal notebook Kim! I really appreciate that!
And congratulations on your 100th Mitten Moments! 🎉
They are so cute, Michele! Thank you so much!
