Mitten Moments

Welcome back to my Mitten Moments! I hope you are all doing well. This week, I’m serving up a fresh batch of content that’s sure to brighten your day. I’ve got a mix of inspiration from fellow bloggers, along with some fun finds from around the web, and of course, a sprinkle of my own Mitten magic!

Before we dive in, I wanted to take a moment to send my thoughts and prayers to all those impacted by the devastating wildfires in California and the winter weather across the southern states. My prayers are with you in finding strength, comfort, and support during this difficult time.

Isn’t this the cutest picture? My granddaughters made the little snowman and it was facing the neighbors yard. Their sweet neighbors came out and made two large ones facing their little guy. I thought that was so kind. Finding smiles and joy in the little things, friends!

My Personal Moments

  • One of my personal goals this year is to eat gluten free. A decision I’ve decided to make for my health. Giving up bread and pasta has been the hardest, thus far. If you have any great tips for gluten free eating, I would love for you to put them in the comments! Also, wish this Mitten girl good luck sticking to it!
  • I just starting reading The Last One at the Wedding by Jason Rekulak. It’s about a man’s estranged daughter who invites him to her wedding at a lavish estate. But as the weekend unfolds, he start’s to notice strange things: an icy reception from the fiancé, whispers of a missing girl, and a family hiding a dangerous secret. Sounds so good and mysterious, right? I’ll keep you posted on how I like it. So far, so good!
  • We finally have some lasting snow on the ground, and I couldn’t be happier! I love the snow, and I’d much rather have this than the dreary, cloudy winter skies. It’s perfect timing too, because Big Al just got a new snowblower! That’s been fun for him!
  • The Detroit Lions are the No. 1 seed for the first time in Lions history! They also clinched the NFC North title! The Lions are on fire and it’s awesome to see the Lions playing at this level. Detroit is praying for a Super Bowl opportunity, for sure! Go Lions!!

I’ve been more quiet than normal on the blog. I gave myself some time off over the holidays and being totally transparent, I’ve had a slow roll as I get back on track. I think it’s important for all of us to take time for ourselves and slow down. Don’t you?

That being said, over the last week or so, here’s a look at what I’ve shared:

  1. Kim, I’ve followed a gluten free diet for 13 years now. My best tip on pasta is to choose one that includes quinoa in the ingredients like Ronzoni or the Italian brand Granoro. Rice flour alone is too mushy and corn flour is too firm. The quinoa gives it a similar consistency to regular pastas. Good luck on this new lifestyle.
