Mitten Moments

Happy Sunday, friends! It’s that time of week again. A little space for me to slow down and share some of my favorite moments with all of you! Grab your favorite mug of, settle in, and let’s get started with some simple joys, personal reflection, recipes and creative projects.

Last weekend, I attended an amazing fall retreat sponsored by Holy Yoga Detroit. My sweet friend, Kristin, invited me. She also co-owns a faith-based yoga studio called Wild Peace Yoga. If you’re local you must check them both out! Kristin and I served together at church for many years, and to say we had an instant bond is an understatement. We didn’t know we needed each other, but God knew. Although we are far apart in years, it’s never mattered. Our friendship has been a blessing to me and one I will forever treasure.

The retreat was nestled in the prettiest location and was all about breaking free from the hustle, expectations, and anything weighing you down. The weekend was full of faith-based yoga, break-out groups, devotionals, prayer, facials, free-time, and yummy homemade meals! It filled my soul and grounded me, reminding me what’s important, who’s in control, and giving me a chance to breath and feel free!

My Personal Moments

  • My grands love having their nails painted. It’s something that we do almost weekly. Even though they are little, you’d be surprised how well they sit and let their nails dry. I use Sally Hansen Insta-Dri nail polish, when I paint their nails. It comes in so many fun colors, and honestly, it dries so fast!
  • Have you heard of Silent Book Club? It’s an official global organization (2,000 chapters in 60 countries!) and community. Sometimes referred to as the “introvert happy hour.” The concept is that there’s no reading assignment, and participants gather at a public location and read their own books. There is an hour of reading and then an hour of socializing. I’d love to hear what you think? Speaking of books, check out my post 7 Easy Ways to Host a Book Club. While you’re at it, you can curl up with my new cozy book suggestions for fall.

  • As with many series, I’m late to the game, but I’m ok with that! I just started watching Poldark on Netflix. Have you seen it? I’m really enjoying it. The best part about being late to the game…you can binge watch!

What I’m Loving Now!

I know many of you think it’s too early to share Christmas finds. However, the early bird gets the worm, right? A couple of weeks back, mid-September to be exact, I put together a collage of my favorite new Christmas finds from Walmart. Believe it or not, the very next day, five out of ten items were out of stock. Out of stock…mid-September!

So, many people are seeing items they love and buying now. That’s why I’m sharing some of the new Christmas decor from Pottery Barn. I love Pottery Barn’s style and their products are well made and last forever! I’m still using the Christmas stockings I bought for my sons years ago.

You can see all the new gorgeous Christmas finds HERE.

A Few of My Favorite Moments

Being raised in a southern home, my mother always had homemade dessert after dinner or breakfast, for that matter. Therefore, I’ve carried on the tradition and my family loves a good homemade dessert. Yvonne from Stone Gable share her 5 Delicious and Easy Fall Dessert You’ll Make On Repeat. You’re definitely going to want to see these!

I’m all about a good DIY and Stephanie from Returning Grace shared her Yarn Pumpkins: An Easy and Affordable Fall DIY. Aren’t they so cute!! Yarn is a medium I really enjoy working with and who doesn’t like an easy and affordable DIY?

Looking for a Halloween treat for the littles? My friend Norma from Paint Me Paint has the perfect Blueberry Bat Pies. Easy, cute and a fun Halloween treat anyone can make!
