It was a relatively quiet week here in the Mitten. Quiet, yet very productive! No big blog posts…just a lot of prep for some great posts I have coming up! Speaking of productive, I found some fun Mitten Moments this week.

Can you believe it’s the first weekend in August? Hard to believe! Depending on where you live, I know some of your kids are heading back to school, this month. Here in the Mitten the kids don’t go back until after Labor Day.

We had some raging thunderstorms this week and I can’t say I was sad about it. I always love a good thunderstorm! Not to mention, the flowers and grass really needed the rain so that was a big plus too!

Speaking of flowers, mine are still thriving! How about yours? Are they getting the end of the season blahs, yet?

I had my book club, this week. We read The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave. On a scale of 1-10, I give it about a 5. Definitely a fast and easy read, but some parts just seemed too far fetched for me.

Let me just say, the food and friendship was a definite 10! If you want to know how to start a book club you can read my post on 7 Easy Ways To Host A Book Club.

A Few Favorite Mitten Moments

Do you love pancakes? I’m not an egg person so pancakes are my go to for a big breakfast.

This week, my friend Aliya from Open Doors Open Hearts shared The Best Pancake Recipe with Sourdough Discard.

They look so fluffy and the berries on top seal the deal for me!

Do you know my friend Kelly from The Tattered Pew? She is super talented, has a beautiful home and blog, and she is just an all around good person! This week, she shared The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Growing Colorful Zinnias from Seed.

I am no master gardener and she gave some amazing tips on growing zinnias. If you love zinnias and would like to have them as cut flowers in your garden, make sure you check out her post!

Next up is Lauren and Robert. They are the dynamic duo from Bless’er House. This week, they shared 100 Best Outdoor Movies to Watch for a Backyard Movie Night. Their post is packed with some amazing movies broken down by season and ages. They also included the best outdoor movie equipment to have AND don’t forget the yummy snacks!

This post is perfect for couples, families, and great for a night with friends. Make sure you check out their post. I promise, it will inspire you to do a movie night of your own!

  1. Kim, we had lots of evening thunder storms here too. The plants need it so much. We welcome the rain as well. I see everyone’s beautiful Zinnias but mine did not do so well this year. It’s trail and error sometimes with plants. Next year time to relocate to a different spot. So much inspiration here and will be reading this morning all of the posts from links you provide. Hugs to you my sweet friend. Wish we were on the longest yard sale this week together getting into mischief.

  2. Kim your flowers look beautiful! Mine are not to so well with all the heat! That outdoors movie night looks so fun! I’ve always wanted to host one! Thanks for the great shares!

  3. Oh how I wish we had thunder storms, only in my dreams. We had 102 degress today and the flowers are looking very sad.
