Hey friends! It’s time for my Mitten Moments. I’m excited to be sharing a glimpse into the highlights and happenings of my week.
Happy 4th of July weekend! I hope you are lucky enough to have a long holiday weekend. Baseball, burgers and my family’s favorite, blueberry buckle, will be on the menu here! If you’re a blueberry fan, check out my post How to Make the Best Blueberry Buckle.
What’s on your 4th of July menu?

My Personal Mitten Moments
- I learned something new this week. Have you ever heard of a “tomato girl summer”? Apparently, it is all the rage on TikTok. It’s about embracing the vibes of a European summer. It’s in large, one part fashion and wearing that bright red color of a tomato, however, it also spills over into entertaining, in your home. Make sure you stay tuned for my detailed post on tomato girl summer, next week!
- Are you a fan of reading? I just picked up the new Elin Hilderbrand’s new book, The Five-Star Weekend. I’ve read some of her other books and I am definitely a fan. This one, so far so good!
- I love hot tea. Yes, even in the summer. I typically use coffee mugs to drink my tea, and this week, I found the cutest mug. On the inside is the scripture “Consider how the wildflowers grow.” Luke 12:27. It’s the cutest and a little bit of happy to start the day.
- I’m a lucky girl and have the this week off from my day job! Ask me if I’m a little excited?

Recently On The Blog
It was Pinterest Challenge week, on the blog. A Pinterest Challenge is where some blogging friends and I take an inspirational photo and create our own version of it. Our inspiration was to use any type of flag in our home decor.
Ticking fabric is some of my favorite to work with and I have a ton of it from making my cottage blankets. Using that, some blue and white star fabric, and a wire heart, I shared how to make An Easy Patriotic Rag Wreath.

There is nothing like watermelon in the summertime! The two just seem to go hand-in-hand. My good buddy Tammy from White Lilac Farmhouse shared the Best Watermelon and Feta Salad for Summer.
Doesn’t it look delish?!

If you have a garden and grow cucumbers you are going to love this next share! My good friend Wendy from WM Design House shared Mrs. Wages Dill Pickle Recipe: How To Make Quick Pickles. I’m definitely going to try this when our cucumbers come in from the family garden!
See how Wendy made them and who she made them with! So mch fun!

Hi Brenna! Unfortunately, there is not. I bought it at Marshall’s. So many try there if there is one in your area!
So many great July 4th finds!
Thanks Maria!
Your posts are always inspiring Kim! All of a sudden I’m humming “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and wishing I had the forethought and time to do a little decorating. I loved several of your favorites! Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
Thanks so much, friend!😘
Happy 4th of July! Let freedom ring! 🎇
Love the patriotic links.
Beautiful coffee cup. As I love coffee and anything to enhance the experience (have several different makers, pour over, etc).
Over the years have collected many beautiful, funny, odd and interesting cups. Had to scale down for my move. Cherish the 2 dozen I kept. 😂
I’m with you! A collector of mugs. I recently had to scale them down too!
Kim, I have never heard of tomato girl summer. Believe it or not red use to be my favorite color growing. I still love the color and you will see me wearing it often. Kind of ironic since my birthday is in July. Aqua has been my favorite for many, many years now. It does look great with red too. LOL. I love your mug for tea. It screams summer! KariAnne blew it out of the water with that design. Like you, I am love me some color and that room was stunning.
Red has always been one of my favs! You are right…that room of KA was amazing!!
Kim, also thank you for sharing my salad post. You are the sweetest!
You’re welcome!!
