This week just flew by! It’s hard to believe it’s time again for my Mitten Moments.
Whether you’ve been coming here for awhile or this is your first time, welcome to my Cottage in the Mitten!
Mitten Moments is my weekly post, where I share some of the special moments from my week. I hope you enjoy!
My Personal Mitten Moments
- Everything in our family garden and in my flower gardens have really started to flourish! The dahlias and zinnias started blooming this week, too! If you grow cut flowers, you know this is a super exciting time! You know I’m a fan of pink and yellow, but I promise not ALL my dahlias are pink and yellow. Just these two!

- Have you seen it? It’s here already in alot of the big box stores. What is it, you ask? Fall. It’s Fall and no, I am not ready.
- I had the best plum this week, called a plumsicle! They are super sweet and look more like a cherry inside. If you have never had one, you must try! Yummy!
- I was moved to tears by a beautiful moment with my 3 year old granddaughter. It was a simple unexpected moment. Nothing big was happening. We were listening to the song “I See the Light” by Mandy Moore. It’s from the Disney movie Tangled. She started swaying, softly twirling and it was the sweetest most innocent moment I’ve witnessed in a very long time. It literally brought me to tears. Never underestimate the small moments and how they fill your life!

It was a fun week on the blog!
Reading happens to be one of my favorites hobbies. Earlier this week, I shared 7 of the Best Books this Summer. Trust me, I could have probably given you way more than 7, but I wanted to be realistic! Summer is a great time to enjoy the beautiful weather and read a good book!
I hope you enjoy my selection! If you have a great recommendation that isn’t on my list, I would love to hear from you in the comments below.

Seven seemed to be the lucky topic this week on the blog! I also shared Seven Amazing Ways to Have a Memorable Summer. It seems as though mid-summer is upon us, but there is plenty of time to get the most out of the season! Grab your friends and family and share some of my summer funday ideas with them!
Nothing like making memories with the people you care about!

During the summer months there always seems to be so many occassions on the calendar. If you’re looking for something yummy to bring to your next event, check out this Best Healthy Greek Pasta Salad from my good friends AnnMarie and Anne, from Simply 2 Moms.
I’ve found my dish for next weekend’s summer gathering! How about you?

I’ve flipped my share of furniture and I always enjoy a good makeover. Donna & Rich from An Organized Season shared How to Repair and Paint Old Furniture. They took an old, sentimental piece of furniture and turned it into a beautiful piece for their guest room.

Kim, what a sweet moment with your granddaughter. It’s the little things in life that bring so much joy to one’s heart. It was a precious story.
