Hello, my friends! Welcome to my weekly Mitten Moments. If you’re new here, Mitten Moments are my blog posts from the week, those fun loving moments that hit my heart, and inspiration from my friends around the web.
It’s been a beautiful but chilly fall day! Big Al and I spent part of the day digging up our dahlias. With the arrival of frost last night, and its forecasted persistence for the coming days, we needed to get those dahlia tubers out of the ground with hopes of planting them again next year. Do you plant dahlia tubers?

My Personal Mitten Moments
- Through my eyes, it seems our world is in a current sad state of affairs and it sure can make the heart feel heavier than normal. I’m not looking to start a conversation on it, just making a general comment on my feelings. Through my beautiful granddaughter’s eyes, it seems our world just needs a little more fairy magic and pixie dust. Spending time with her, for just a few hours this week, she made me believe that too!

- I did a little home decor shopping and thrifting at one of my favorite local spots. I found some amazing cane back chairs that I can’t wait to recover and use. Sadly, The Mitin Collective is closing. If you’re local make sure to stop by and see all the amazing sales they have.

For some of you, I know it seems so early to be chatting about Christmas. However, when you are a blogger you are always ahead of the game. This week, I gathered with some friends for some early holiday inspiration.
Did you see my post on my DIY Tartan Plaid Photo Frame: A Pottery Barn Lookalike for Less? I always love getting the Pottery Barn catalogs, however, I don’t always love the price points. Their plaid photo frames are so pretty but I knew I could create the same thing for much less.
Check out my step-by-step tutorial to make your own!

My Favorite Finds
I’ve been thinking about my decor for Christmas and found a couple of very cute home decor items for the holiday. Being a traditional girl when it comes to Christmas, I always incorporate red and green.
If you havent seen the Christmas line from My Texas House at Walmart, put it on your list of things to check out. Her items are so pretty and very reasonable.
This red long sleeve hooded cardigan is from Amazon. I think it is perfect for the upcoming holidays and even through the winter months. We all need a little color during the cold, sometimes gray months!

A Few Of My Favorite Moments
My friend Jen from Midwest Life and Style created an Easy Christmas Simmer Pot Recipe for a Cozy Holiday. A simmer pot is a great way to make your house smell yummy, while letting the natural scents gently fill the air.
Look how pretty this summer pot is, too!

Do you enjoy carving pumpkins? When our sons were young, we made it a big deal and we loved carving pumpkins together. Since they are grown and no longer at home, the only carving of pumpkins I have done is making my Fall Mum Pumpkin Planter.
Speaking of flowers in pumpkins, my friend CoCo from The Crowned Goat has a great post on Simple Pumpkin Flower Arrangement Ideas using carvable pumpkins.
If you don’t know CoCo and you love all things pretty, her blog is a must see!

If you’re a planner and are looking ahead to the Christmas holiday, you need to put this next share on your list! My mentor and friend KariAnne from Thistlewood Farm shared The Easiest Gingerbread House recipe.
Wait until you see what you use to make it!

Yes, Kim we all need a little bit of magic and pixie dust in our lives at the moment. I agree with you, time spent with children through their eyes and innocent souls can be very uplifting. What a blessing in your life.

Love the picture of your gran, Kim, she’s such a cutie pie. Every time the state of the world starts to break my heart I think of the littles who deserve so much better and it keeps me going. It’s truly up to us to give them a brighter future. They definitely deserve it! Thank you so much for sharing my easy pumpkin flower ideas. It’s so sweet of you! Hugs, CoCo
You are so right, CoCo! I think heartbreaking situations gives us the drive to work harder to create a safe and loving place for them. Always a joy to share you! 💛
