Happy dance recital Sunday from the Mitten! Having raised all boys, dance recitals weren’t part of our life. Now that we have all granddaughters, they are. Before we head out for a day of dance, I wanted to share all my Mitten Moments with YOU!

Things are really started to fill in and bloom here. The weather has been warm and we have had considerable rain on and off, which has actually been a blessing for the garden and all the other plants I’m growing. I’m most excited about my Nantucket Blue hydrangeas. I was worried they might not come back this year, as I haven’t had great luck with hydrangeas. Despite my past struggles with them, they’re putting on a stunning show this year!

My Personal Moments

  • Have you ever made a fairy garden? This week my granddaughters and I created one for their back yard. It’s inexpensive and makes for a fun and memorable project. If you’re not familiar with fairy gardens you can see my post on How to Make a Fairy Garden. And if you are wondering, I did have a fairy house for each of them!
  • I’m one of those people who love getting a card or occassional handwritten communication in the mail. In a world of quick answers and texting, I believe it makes people feel special that you took the time to send them something handwritten. I recently read an article about the lost art of hardwritten cards and letters. Amy Weinland Daughters wrote to all 580 of her Facebook friends. She believes that the “social experiment” brought out the best in her and other people. Based on her letter writing, Amy wrote the book Dear Dana: That time I went crazy and wrote all 580 of my Facebook friends a handwritten letter.
