Mitten Moments

Happy Sunday, friends! It’s time again for my weekly Mitten Moments. I hope you had a great week. It’s been a slow roll around the Cottage and I’m not mad about it. I’ve just been soaking in the days of summer with family and friends.

My Personal Moments

  • Big Al and I went to Harsen’s Island with some friends, on Saturday. One of our friends just purchase a home there and it was such a fun day! Freighters frequent the water way and how amazing it is to see them close-up! Harsen’s Island is a part of Michigan, but it’s a short distance across the water from Canada. You have to take a short ferry ride to get there.
  • Have you ever made homemade cream corn? I bought some fresh corn on the cob and I’m making some today for Sunday dinner. My mom taught me how to make it and she never used a recipe. Someday, I will create the recipe and share it with all of you. It’s so yummy and the perfect side dish for summertime!
  • I transplanted this phlox from my son and DIL’s house, in the fall. I was a bit worried, but it finally started blooming and it’s gorgeous!

My Favorite Weekly Find

Yes, it’s still summer, but no matter what season, I always love a good sweater! My motto, you have to get them when you can find them. If you wait for colder weather, they may be gone. This Pretty Garden Women’s Knit Sweater comes in 20 different color options. Isn’t she pretty?

I love a pretty basket and believe they are a timeless decor piece, for your home. If you admire those weaved wonders, my friend Ann from Dabbling and Decorating shared Antique Baskets Vintage Decor Ideas and her post is full of basket goodness!

Nothing says refreshing like a cold glass of lemonade on a warm summer day! Jen from Midwest Life and Style has a yummy Simple Summer Spiked Strawberry Lemonade recipe.

Two glasses of refreshing spiked strawberry lemonade on a table, garnished with lemon slices and fresh strawberries.

Give me a hot cup of tea and a sweet treat for breakfast and my day is off to a great start! My blogging friend, Elizabeth from Pinecones & Acorns shared a lovely Cherry Almond Coffee Cake recipe.

Elizabeth has some great recipes. I’ve added this to my list to make!

A slice of cherry crumb cake on a white plate with a fork, next to a whole cherry crumb cake with a missing slice, surrounded by fresh cherries and a piece of white paper.

Do you cook with fresh herbs? Susan from Hen and Horse Design shared Essentil Herbs for Italian Cooking. Her post details popular Italian herbs like basil, oregano, and thyme, along with tips on cultivating, harvesting, and storing them.
