Hello friends! Spring is here and I can’t get enough of it! My tulips are peaking through the ground and let me tell you, it makes me want to celebrate. That’s appropriate because today I am so happy to be participating in the Celebrating Spring Home Tour hosted by Leen from Sand Dollar Lane. I’m going to be sharing with you my simple spring bedroom refresh.
If you’ve stopped over here from my friend Cindy from DIY Beautify, wasn’t her spring kitchen decor so pretty?! I’m definitely a fan!
My name is Kim. Welcome to my Cottage in the Mitten! The Mitten has always been my home and I love it! It’s a blessing to enjoy each season in all their glory.

To Make Or Not To Make
Are you a bed maker or a bed leaver?
Truth be told, I can’t leave my house without making my bed. Well, at least 90% of the time. I’m not sure why. I do like the feeling of an organized room, but maybe it’s because I was raised in a house where the beds were made every single morning. So, I guess I’m just a creature of habit.
Growing up, my sons were not a fan of the habit. They used to ask, “Why do we have to make our beds, everyday? Are the bed police coming to our house?”
My reply, “Yes, sons…yes, they are.”

A Simple Spring Refresh – The Bedding
With each season, I like switching things up in my bedroom. A few months ago, I showed you How To Create A Cozy Space For Winter. In my opinion, refreshing a bedroom is not like refreshing a large room. Therefore, little changes make a noticeable difference.
For my spring refresh, I snagged a new pair of pillow shams on sale. My winter shams matched the comforter and both were cream. I’m still using the same comforter, however, my new pillow shams are printed. They have the same colors as the drapes and are so cheerful. I love the way they coordinate.
Small change, big difference.
I love layering. I love mixing patterns. The quilts I used in my winter refresh were used again in this spring refresh. The difference? They are both two sided, so I flipped them over and used the other side. The colors on each one compliment my new shams perfectly.
I only used one throw pillow and it was one that a used a few years ago.

Spring Accessories
As much as I like mixing patterns on bedding and pillows, I love mixing different styles and sizes of vases together. I used some vases I already had and faux tulips that I purchased last year, to create this vignette. The mellow golden rod color just feels like spring to me.
Solid and stripes. A perfect combo.
The faux tulips I used are amazing quality. I’ve linked them in the pictures below.

I love to read. You will find that I have many different books in my room and I use them in my decor, as well. Next to the chair in my bedroom, where I like to read, I have a little side table. I added a ceramic bird for a little touch of spring.
If you didn’t know, birds coupled with the color blue, are some of my favorite decor items this spring. You can see more of both in My New Blue Spring Home Tour – Part 1 that I shared, last week.
Also, if you noticed, I do collect and read vintage books from my childhood. Collecting different series, has been a passion of mine for about the last fifteen years.

My Simple Spring Bedroom Refresh
Well, that’s my spring refresh. I added just a few touches to remind us that it is spring. Remember, you don’t have to spend alot to do a refresh. Moving things around from room to room can make a decor item seem like new!
I hope you have enjoyed it and make sure you come back again! My door in The Mitten is always open for guests!
Last but not least, next up on our tour is Kate from Southern Home and Hospitality. You will love all her Easter decorating ideas!

Kim – isn’t amazing how a couple of changes can transform a room? Your spring bedroom is lovely!
It truly is! Thank you and happy Monday!
I really like your layered Spring bedding Kim! What a great idea to just purchase shams! I do like a made bed, but bc I get up before “he who shall not be named”, lol, it often goes unmade.
That’s so funny, Cindy! So nice to tour with you this week!
I never decorate our bedroom for spring but you’ve inspired me!
Your springy bedding is beautiful and I love the springy accents you’ve added, especially that sweet little bird!
I am so glad you are part of this tour!
Thank you so much, Leen! Im glad you like it. Thanks for hosting this tour! I’m grateful to be a part of it. š
Your bedroom look so cozy and pretty. I love your layering of quilts and all of the various patterns. And your yellow vases are gorgeous!
Thank you, Angie! They are so cheerful!
Love how changing up just a few things makes everything refresh. I am a bed maker and probably comes as now surprise to you. There is something about climbing into a made bed at the end of a long day.
I agree! It feels so good to get into that made bed! Thanks for stopping by! xo
Love your selections in the bedroom Kim. And that gorgeous picture over your bedš±
Thanks so much, Ann! I love that picture too, but was actually looking for something to switch it up.
Kim, your bedroom is so charming with the mix of quilts and patterns. And I love the colors you brought in for spring! I’m also team bed maker…it just makes me feel like I’m starting and ending the day right and it only takes a couple of minutes. So happy to be on the tour with you!
Thank you, Kate! Making the bed does start the day off right! Happy touring!
Oh huge avid reader here! What are some of your favorite books youāve read lately?
Kim, I’m loving your bedroom refresh! Those spring colors really pop! My favorite is that yellow–it reminds me of my grandmother–her entire house was yellow! Thank you for sharing!
I just love yellow, too! It is such a cheerful color! I bet I would have loved your grandmother’s home! š
Your bedroom is so pretty, Kim! I love all the textures and patterns you chose for your bedding. So happy to be touring with you!

Your bedroom looks lovely. And I adore that duvet cover, so much texture I love it!
Thank you, Marianne! The cover is my favorite to date. So nice to tour with you!
This is just the inspiration I’m looking for in mixing patterns and linens! Your bedroom is simply lovely, and yes when the bed is made, we don’t have to worry about the “bed police”! š
Haha…those bed police! Thanks for your kind words, Michelle! Happy spring and so nice to tour with you!
Kim, Iām a every morning bed maker too. My dad always told me that if your bed is made, your room will always look neat. Iām a reader too so I understand the need for a place to read. Love your yellow vases and the faux tulips. Sweet dreams this spring.
Thanks Carol! I think we were taught the gift of a wonderful habit. So nice touring with you this week! Happy Spring!
I love your bedroom refresh, Kim. Those floral pillows are just beautiful! And I will confess…I am not a regular bedmaker. I hope those bed police don’t make a stop at my house or I’ll be in trouble!š
Kim, it’s amazing what a difference a few small changes can make! Your bedroom looks refreshed and ready for spring. The tulips look so real! I’m loving the pops of yellow. I’m a bed maker, too. It just makes me happy to crawl into a made up bed at the end of the day. I also like having books in the bedroom. It was nice touring with you. Pinned!
Thanks, Rebecca! I bought those tulips last year and I can say I’m so happy with the purchase! Nothing like turning the bed back after a long day of work! Happy touring with you this week!
