Spread the love this Valentine's Day with a charming DIY fabric garland! Ditch the store-bought decorations and whip up this easy-peasy project using scraps of fabric you already have lying around.
– Twine - Scissors - Glue gun – Small grapevine hearts – Various ribbon - Cotton batting – Red ticking fabric – Various pink and red fabric – Heart cookie cutter – Sewing machine or sew by hand
Pre-cut your fabrics and ribbon in various lengths, ranging from 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide.
Use a heart shaped cookie cutter and trace it onto the red ticking fabric. In order to make three hearts, you will need six pieces. I used 6″ x 6″ squares.
Sew hearts together almost all the way around. Then pull the fabric right side out and stuff with cotton batting. You can sew the opening closed by hand or with a machine.
Use twine for the base of the garland. Add about 8-12″ to each end and knot to create a tassel. Tie ribbons into the end for a fuller look.
Glue red ticking hearts and grapevine hearts together, then adhere to the twine with hot glue.
Gather up 6-8 pieces of fabric and tie in between each heart. Once complete, display and enjoy!
