Mitten Moments

Happy rainy Sunday from the Mitten. It’s cooler this weekend and the leaves are slowly starting to turn. which is only fitting as the official first day of fall is just two days away. Before you kick off your Sunday, pour your favorite cup of coffee or tea and come see all the amazing moments I have waiting for you today!

Mitten Moments is my weekly Sunday post where I share a little slice of life from the Cottage, what’s been going on around here, some of my favorite finds, and posts from my blogging friends that I just know you’re going to love. I’m so glad you’re here!

My Personal Moments

  • Big Al was on a golf weekend with some buddies, last weekend, and he won the green jacket and got his name on a huge trophy. It wasn’t the Master’s but definitely a close second! Did I mention he has three hole-in-ones in his career. A golfer I’m not, but it sure is a joy to see him do what he loves so well!
  • We have one of those bird feeders with a camera on it. Have you seen them? It’s fun to see the different birds that land there. I saw a segmant on the national news last week, that bird watching is currently a hot trend. People who partake in the hobby are known as Birders. Who knew? I think I might be able to get on this trend!
  • I bought my first set of mums for fall. My summer planters still look beautiful and I’m definitely not ready to let them go. I plan to mix the new fall mums right alongside my summer flowers until they tell me summer is over. When they wither, then I’ll buy some cornstalks. Can anyone else relate?
  • I loved the book and movie The Help by Kathryn Stockett. After 17 years, Stockett has produced a new novel The Calamity Club and I’m hoping I enjoy it just as much. Set in 1933 Mississippi, it follows Birdie, an outspoken bookkeeper, and Meg, a spirited 11-year-old orphan, who team up with a group of unforgettable women to save their futures. Facing dire financial straits and the harsh realities of the Great Depression, they throw caution to the wind and launch a secret speakeasy scheme to reclaim their freedom. It’s a story of sisterhood, resilience, and unexpected second chances. Have you read this one yet? If so, I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below!
