Deck Out Your Door: Easy Patriotic Door Décor Ideas
Last year, I showed you How to Style a Boxwood Wreath for Stunning Home Decor. For my patriotic porch, I used that same wreath and dressed it differently. I love the simplicity of the boxwood wreath. It’s classic and the wreath is the perfect base, but it needed a touch of patriotic pizazz.
Pizazz! Such a fun word, right?
With one spool of wired edged ticking striped ribbon, I whipped up a simple yet stunning bow, in just a few minutes. The bright colors against the green boxwood instantly set the holiday theme – nothing else was needed. This easy DIY transformed my porch door into a warm patriotic welcome.

Stars and Stripes Seating: Spruce Up Your Porch Furniture
My porch is small, and therefore, I don’t keep much in the way of furniture. I have a small white metal chair and matching table that fits perfect! It’s the best spot to sit and read in the evening. If you know anything about Michigan, even in the summer, it can still be cool at night. The porch is covered so I always keep a pillow and blanket out there for comfort and those times when it is a little chilly.
I added this red and white ticking striped pillow. A little secret…I have mutliple pillows like this and use them at Christmas time too. I’m all about multi-purpose and reusing items within your home.

Red, White, and Wow: DIY Decorations on a Budget
We spend a lot of days and nights on our back patio. It’s fun to keep it decorated when we have guests. I change things out frequently and making it happen on a budget is my goal! Speaking of budget, if you are looking for an easy patriotic table to set, you can see my DIY patriotic table here!

So, there’s no need to spend a fortune to create a festive porch for the 4th of July! Here, I’ve used a vintage set of Apollo 11 glasses and decanter on a wooden tray. A splash of red, white and blue is all you need to evoke the spirit of the holiday. They were my father’s and it’s always warms my heart when I use them.
I added a blue and white stripe cloth napkin to make the tray stand out.

Next to my chair on the porch, I included some red and white garland in a vintage container for a little added flair. Strictly deocr. You can use any vintage items you have on hand, or hit up your local thrift store for budget-friendly finds.

Your porch looks so festive and fun. I loved the boxwood wreath. So simple but beautiful.
Thanks so much, Rachel!!
Wowza, the Apollo 11 set is amazing. I can see why it warms your heart to use them. I don’t have anything from my family and wish I did. Love all your tips too, especially when you try not to spend money. Hope you enjoy your porch. The table looks great too. Everything is perfect! Happy summer and happy 4th! pinned
p.s. I want to take Theo home with me! If I lived up there I could be your dog sitter! 😉

I do enjoy a the chill at night but I’m not ready for fall, yet. lol Happy 4th and happy summer, Cindy!:)
Kim,
I love your porch!! I do like shopping my house for things I can incorporate into holiday vignettes. I especially love your father’s Apollo 11 glassware set… For my husband’s birthday one year, I had his Apollo 11 astronauts poster framed. John Glenn and Company look at me each time I walk into his office/spare bedroom!!
We are HUGE fans of NASA and all the missions, movies, etc. Love From the Earth to the Moon series… We just weeded some books on the Apollo missions at school last spring (killed me that we would be losing that information for our students!) but they went to good homes and into teacher classrooms. Plus, we went to Cape Canaveral on our honeymoon to Florida. 😉
Happy 4th and happy summer,
Barb 🙂
Wow, Barb! How fun! Sounds like you have some great collectables and NASA memories! Happy 4th and hope you have a wonderful summer!
