Mitten Moments

It’s a rainy Sunday in the Mitten, and while I’d love to just dive into all the fun finds and heartwarming moments from this week, there’s no way I can ignore the devastation down south. My heart goes out to everyone still reeling from the hurricanes. Please know I am praying for things to improve and I’m sending you all virtual hugs.

Now, on to brighter things! Grab a comfy place on the couch, your favorite drink to sip on, and I’ll share some Mitten Moments with you. Hopefully, it will put a smile on your face, inspire you or lift your spirits.

My Personal Moments

  • Did you catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights in your neck of the woods, this past week? We were lucky enough to see them twice this year. I will say the colors were recently amazing, especially the vibrant reds and pinks. Just breathtaking!
  • We gathered and celebrated my mother’s 93rd birthday! What a blessing!
  • Sports in the “D” has been on the upswing, and our Detroit Lions are having a great season! Big Al and I joined our friends for the Lion’s watch party at Ford Field today, since the team is playing in Dallas. We got the win and saw our favorite Lion’s cheerleader, my niece by friendship!

Do you decorate for Halloween? When our boys were growing up, we always decorated outdoors for Halloween. Now that they are grown and starting their own families, I just decorate outside for fall. However, I love doing crafts with my oldest granddaughter, and this week, I shared our recent DIY. If you are looking for an easy Halloween craft, check out my No-Sew No-Stress Halloween Garland.

While Christmas may feel like a distant memory for most, as a blogger, I’m already planning ahead. I’m excited to give my granddaughters a very magical Christmas by decorating their very own tree! If you missed my post Cozy Nutcracker Christmas where I am unveiling all the decor, make sure to check out all the fun details!

A Few of My Favorite Moments

Do you need to eat pasta to have garlic bread? I think not! I love a good garlic bread and my friend Jill from Bungalow 47 shared her Best Garlic Bread Recipe.

Slices of homemade garlic bread and a brown and white transferware plate.

Have you ever heard of a knife rest? I have to be honest…I never had, until I read about it from my blogging friend. Ann from Dabbling and Decorating wrote all about them in her post Knife Rest French Table Silver and Crystal Ideas. She recently went to France and brought back some beautiful ones. Such a fun and informative read and who wouldn’t love to go to France?!

There’s nothing like homemade soup on a crisp fall day! It’s a family favorite, especially when gathering on football Sunday. My friend, Jen from Midwest Life & Style is a frequent share for me. She has some wonderful recipes, and this week, she shared her Creamy Chicken Corn Chowder. Her comfort chowder will definitely be on our Sunday menu soon!
