Mitten Moments

Happy Sunday, friends! I’ve missed our little Sunday chats the last couple of weeks. I’ve been soaking up la dolce vita (the sweet life) in Italy and a few other stops. Now I’m home, rested and so happy to be here with you again. I have some great things to share with you today, so let’s get started!

Mitten Moments is my weekly Sunday post where I share a little slice of life from the Cottage, what’s been going on around here, some of my favorite finds, and posts from my blogging friends that I just know you’re going to love. I’m so glad you’re here!

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics were kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.”

My Personal Moments

  • Guys! I can now check mark Italy off my bucket list. I had the most amazing trip and I’ll be sharing all about it soon!
Colorful hillside buildings of Salerno Italy along the Amalfi Coast with a Travelmar ferry boat docked in the harbor and an ancient castle ruins visible on the hilltop above.
  • Have you ever heard of a ‘car boot sale’? I had never heard of it until a sweet woman from Australia introduced me to the term during the cruise portion of our trip. Essentially, they’re a giant outdoor flea market. People load up their trunks (car boots) and gather in a field or car park to sell secondhand goods, antiques, collectibles, and all kinds of treasures. Apparently, they’re hugely popular in the UK and Europe and a great way to purchase antiques inexpensively. I think it sounds so fun!
  • We celebrated by DIL’s 30th birthday, this weekend. She was born on the July 4th and since it’s the 250th anniversary, they had a Independence Day themed party. She’s a beauty, inside and out, and it was such a fun day celebrating her!
  • Who remembers Bermuda Bags? You know, those cover changing bags with wooden handles? I have a friend who is looking for a comeback. You guys are always so helpful, so if you see any, please let me know where and I will pass on the information!
  • If you don’t know by now I’m a big Freida McFadden fan. Her books are always a quick read with a good story. In her new release The Divorce the story follows Naomi who comes home to find the locks changed and her husband asking for a divorce. What starts as a heartbreaking betrayal quickly spirals into something far darker and more dangerous than she ever imagined. Full of twists you won’t see coming, this one is impossible to put down!

From strawberries to raspberries! My next share comes from my friend Elizabeth at Pinecones and Acorns. Her Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake looks absolutely delicious! Buttery and moist with fresh raspberries in each slice and a yummy tangy lemon glaze drizzled on top! This one is going straight to my must-make list!

Looking for an easy yet delicious salad to make for the July 4th holiday? Yvonne from StoneGable shared her Homemade Caesar Salad. The secret to this salad that everyone loves is in the dressing! Check it out!
