I love a pretty quilt! In fact, I currently use several in different areas of my home. I believe those pretty coverings can make the home seem a little more cozy, no matter what the season. Quilts are making a hot comeback and today I’m sharing 11 affordable and trending quilts for your home.
You may be asking why I am talking about quilts now during the spring season. The answer is simple. I use quilts in my home all year long. There are lighter weight options that are perfect for any bed during the spring and summer months. Quilts are also a great home decor piece. From the bedroom to your living areas, these pretty blankets can add so much to your home.

“In your life, the people become like a patchwork quilt. Some leave with you a piece that is bigger than you wanted and others smaller than you thought you needed.” – Anna M. Aquino
A Little History on Quilts
Quilting definitely has a rich part in history. The earliest known quilted garment was found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun dating back to around 1300 BC.
Throughout time, quilting has been used for a variety of purposes. In many cultures, quilts were made as warm, durable bedding to help protect against cold weather. In others, quilts were used as decorative pieces or as gifts for important occasions like weddings and births.
Have you ever heard of a quilting bee? It was similar to your modern day book club, only the women would gather to sew and socialize, and it became a common pastime in many early communities.

Quilt Colors and Patterns
Quilts have been made on both sides of my family for years and years. You can read about my family quilts and ways to display them in my post For the Love of Quilts. To me there is nothing like a hand made quilt that has been passed down. However, there are some great options for you to purchase if you don’t have any hand made ones.
I am lucky enough to have both, so I mix and match frequently.
Quilts come in so many various colors and patterns or they can be one solid color. I’ve listed some other options below.
- Bold and bright colors arranged together.
- Pastel colors create a soft and soothing vibe. Many baby blankets are made with pastel colors.
- Geometric designs such as squares, triangles, and diamonds can create a modern and sophisticated look.
- Nature-inspired: Quilts can be made with patterns inspired by nature, such as leaves, flowers, and trees. These patterns can be combined with earthy colors like green, brown, and gold to create a calming and peaceful effect.
- Quilts made with stripes and checks can have a playful and whimsical feel.
Anyone of these designs can be made with bright or subtle colors and can be arranged in a variety of ways.
“Our lives are like quilts – bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.” ― Unknown
