Happy warm and sunny Saturday from the Mitten! We had snow on Monday so I’d say that’s quite the turn-around. Saturday’s are for sharing my Mitten Moments, so grab a cup of your favorite beverage and come on over! Since the sun is out, my door is definitely open.
I’ve been quiet the last couple of weeks as I have been on a much needed vacation. Mr. Mitten (aka Big Al) and I went to Captiva, Florida with our besties.
“Flowers are the music of the ground. From earth’s lips spoken without sound.” – Edwin Curran
Have you every been there? I’m not a big Florida person but Captiva is beautiful and the weather perfect. Maybe because it has been so cold and dreary the last few months that I was completely drawn to all the sunshine and vibrant flowers.
Look at these beauties!
If you ever have the opportunity to visit, I assure you, you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve had many of you reach out and ask how my son’s MRI follow-up went. We are praising God for a good report!! It appears that the radiation he had a year ago has stopped the growth of the tumor. He is feeling good, happy and healthy!
To say we are grateful is an understatement.
I just want to say thank you so much for all the prayers, texts and private messages. They mean so much to our family!
A Few Favorite Mitten Moments
Have you ever had the lemon loaf from Starbucks? If you haven’t, let me tell you, your missing out! My good pal, Jennifer from Cottage on Bunker Hill makes the best Easy Glazed Lemon Loaf Cake. It’s one of my favorite finds this week and I bet it will be one of yours too!
Doesn’t it look yummy!!?

Everyone who knows me knows that I like to set a pretty table. If you are new here, now you know too!
Leslie from My 100 Year Old Home shared an amazing tip this week. She created a DIY Spring Wallpaper Table Runner.
This is a perfect idea for setting a pretty table and I will definitely be using wallpaper on one of my future table settings!
Pink and Blue! Yes, please! Two of my favorites!

Random Trivia
Since I am still dreaming about all the beautiful flowers from my vacation I thought I would share some fun flower trivia with you!
- Broccoli is a flower
- Several centuries ago in Holland, tulips were more valuable than gold
- Roses are the most popular flowers in the U.S., followed by lilies, orchids and daisies

P.S. aren’t you amazed I was still awake to read your email tonight??!!!
You are welcome, friend and I’m very amazed!! 🙂
Kim, welcome home. So nice that you were able to enjoy a little vacation. I loved in Florida for 6 years and to be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan either. Too humid, not enough trees(other than palm).
Thank the Lord your son is doing better, that is fabulous news.
I love all of your flower trivia, I did know about tulips but not sunflowers.
Have a great weekend.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Elizabeth! I enjoyed putting the flower trivia together, too!
It sure was a beautiful day today! Vibrate flowers! I love all the blue decor you’ve put together!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, Mary Anne! Enjoy your Sunday!
Glad you got some time away to relax. I love to visit Florida, but always had bad hair days because of the humidity. Loved all of the photo of the flowering plants. I need to get in my flower garden soon.
Gardening season will be here soon! Looking forward to seeing your pretty plants!
I’m glad that you got outside to do a little gardening today. I spent the day buying seeds and picking up organic dirt and then putting my raised garden bed together which had me tied up in contortions. I love those directions with no words. But I was eventually successful… so bed number two should go much more smoothly. Not looking forward to the cooler temps again. Michigan sure likes to tease us doesn’t it?
Good luck with bed number two!! I’ll have to get over and see your garden when you’re finished!
I’ve been wanting to make a recipe like this awhile! I love everything eggs, as you know. It’s much cheaper and with local fresh ingredients it’s a win win! I’m going to make those!! And the wallpaper table idea, brilliant! Enjoy your Sunday!!
Let me know when you make the egg dish! I’m glad you enjoyed!
What a wonderful post! Loved everything and especially the good report for your son! Happy weekend, sweet friend!
Thank you so much, Leslie!
The egg dish looks delicious!! I’m glad you got some sun today! The weather has been so on and off.
Looking forward to more warmer days!
Such great news about your son! I am sure it helps to ease the worry a mama can have 🥰 Have a great week Kim!
Thanks, Cindy! We are so grateful for a good report!
